According to statistics of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), the EU-27 countries exported 6.15 million tons of scraps in the first quarter of this year, surging by 38% year on year, exceeding the US to become the world's largest scrap exporter.
In the first quarter of this year, the EU's scrap exports to Turkey totaled 3.37 million tons; that to Indian was at 830,000 tons; that to Egypt was at 440,000 tons and that to the US was at 176,000 tons.
In the given period of time, the US's scrap exports totaled 5.4 million tons, rising by 7.7% year on year.
